I'll miss you!
Its so difficult to write to you at this time. Though I knew this day would come but never thought it would be so soon. Since past more than a year, you've been with me through thick & thin. I'd never thought leaving you would hurt so much!

There's something I haven't told you. I've always been in love with you. Whenever I saw you with others, I used to wait for the day you'll come into my life. On the 30th of October, when I got your hand in mine, I'd thought i'll never let it go but....! I know in the past one year, I've hurt you a lot but even you know it was purely unintentional coz everytime I hurt you, I've felt the pain myself.

I also admit that I used to feel the discomfort in the start, esp while sleeping with you but it lasted for barely a few days! Then I got so used to you that even when people used to get astonished of the fact that you were with me 24/7, all I did was smiled & felt proud.

But now, that we're departing, all I'd like to tell you is that you'll always be a part of my life and i'll keep your memorabilia, safe with me always.

I'll miss you.........

......... My dear 'chura'

:P

PS: For the less knowledgable souls, 'chura' is this set of red & white bangles which I'm wearing in the pic above. The punjabi's wear it on the day of their marriage and keep it on, 24/7. Some brides wear them for a month, some for a quarter, some for 6 months and some like me, for 'sava saal', thats approx 1 year, 2 months & 15 days. I've always loved bangles, esp these, and today, when I took them off as per custom, after more than a year, a single look at my hands made me feel they're not mine. They were looking so ugly to me, without those beautiful bangles!

Its a man's (& woman's) life!
Its a dogs life,
I've heard the humans say,
A dog listening to this yelled,

"Please keep us away!"

"We lead a nice life,
And are happy with ourselves,
We don't ruin others happiness,
And make their life hell."

"We fall in love too,
To fulfill our desires we mate,
But we're not like those creepy men,
To fulfill their desires who rape!"

"All we need is food,
To fill our empty stomachs,
We don't kill our bothers & sisters,
To get the big bucks!"

"No ones there to rule us,
Nor are we above anyone,
We are not like you humans,
For whom child abuse is fun."

"We don't take advantage of each other,
We are faithful to our master,
We don't snatch away others credits,
Only to get a post higher!"

"So much of hatred & negativity,
I wonder how you take,
How you manage to live,
With so many relations being fake."

Saying this the dog left,
I kept staring till he went out of sight,
And suddenly after a light flash, I realised,
All this was just a dream of the night!

The dream made me sure, that a day will come,
When I'll hear all the animals say,
Ones who're tired of all the strive,
Would say, "Its indeed a man's life!"

Ganpati Bappa Morya!

The eager wait,
The lights & the music,
No time restraint,
The fun & the frolic.

Housie & musical chairs,
The blindfold matki phod,
Dandia & rain dance,
Fun n fairs & more.

Sitting by your side,
Wishing in your ear,
Peace from within,
Full confidence, no fear!

Helping & organizing,
Serving the underprivileged race,
The feeling of accomplishment,
Looking at their smiling face!

Balloons & crackers,
Nasik dhol & lazeem,
Hours of dancing,
During the visarjan.

Finally to see you go,
The moment, touching to the core,
Wishing the moment lasts forever,
I'll miss all of this, and more!

Yep, its Ganpati time! Till last year, I used to be happy to no extents at this time of the year but this year, I'm not. Coz I'll miss all of it. Happy Ganesh Chaturthi to everyone.
May Lord Ganesha fulfill all your dreams :)

On this note, I wish to share both the versions of my fav Ganpati bhajan with you...

PS: I sincerely hope (a plea to all mandals, even for future) that Ganpati idols be booked in small size. After visarjan, the big idols don't dissolve easily in water and are hence broken with hammers. I don't think I need to say anything further on to that. So I request everyone to do the needful, if not for the environment, at least for the Lord Ganesha, whom you believe in!

Govinda aala re!
A very happy Janmashtami to everyone :)

Some gyan (information) for the less knowledgable souls...

Gokulashtami marks the celebration of the birth of Lord Shri Krishna. This festival is also known as Sri Krishna Jayanti and Janmashtami. The actual day of celebration can be on two different days as the star 'Rohini' and Ashtami may not be on the same day. This occurs between August and September on the Christian calendar.

Krishna Jayanthi is also called as Janma Ashtami day, Gokula Ashtami and Sri Jayanthi. The birthday of Krishna, who was born to King Vasudeva and Devaki Devi is celebrated as a festival on the eighth day of the dark fortnight in the month of Sravana, which corresponds to the English month of August-September. Therefore Gokuashtami means Gokul - Krishna and Ashtami - eight. Sri Krishna is Lord Vishnu's eighth avatar (incarnation) on earth. He is considered to be the Lord's most glorious incarnations. Even saying and remembering His name brings joy because Sri Krishna himself was a manifestation of joy at all levels and in all walks of life. No other God in the Hindu pantheon, or for that matter in any other religion, is associated with so many romantic tales and so fully radiating with all the divine attributes as Sri Krishna.

Since Sri Krishna lived in luxury throughout his life, Sri Krishna Jayanti is celebrated with pomp and splendor. Plenty of sweets are made. Among these are laddus (yellu oonde), chakli, cheedai, payasam (kheer), and so on. In addition, plenty of milk products especially butter, which was Sri Krishna's favorite childhood food, are given in offerings. A wide variety of fruits are also offered. The most common sweets made laddus and payasam.

Great indeed are his many Leelas and the way in which he charms one and all. Several sages and seers have paid homage to him. Narada, Sri Kulashekara Azhwar, Andal, Tirumangai Azhawar, Nammazhwar have sung glorious verses in praise of Lord Krishna who embodies Shudda Satvam. The Bhagavad Gita coming from the Lord is the absolute truth which has withstood the test of time and has formed the basis and inspiration for many Acharyas and Azhwars.

The life and message of Sri Krishna is the most stirring saga of one of the greatest saviours and propounders of Dharma. Born in the dungeons of Kansa who was out to kill him at the very moment of his birth, Sri Krishna's life is replete with many such mortal dangers which he successfully triumphs over. He was the unchallenged hero of his times both in terms of his bodily prowess and his intellectual brilliance.

Sri Krishna Jayanti, therefore, signifies not merely the birth of a great and Divine Teacher of mankind in some distant past but the lighting of the spark of the Divine Power in every one of us, which spurs us on to play our dynamic part in this world of practical and hard realities with a sense of high spiritual purpose. Krishna represents the total power of attraction (Aakarshna Shakti) like a magnet of infinite rise. Hence Krishna is the source of joy.

The cultural aspects are represented by the traditionally dressed devotees. The raas or dance is also done with devotees taking part with spiritual fervor. Sri Krishna who manifests all levels of joy, is also the source of spiritual joy, which overrides mental or emotional joy, just as emotional joy overrides physical joy. If all the three are integrated and interdependent, then the observance of the festival takes on the full meaning of Sri Krishnaarpanamastu - let everything be offered to Sri Krishna.

Perfect.......
..To go with my mood, as of now! Beautiful lyrics, lovely music, awesome song. A retro pick this time, one of my all time favorites :)

Track: Tujhse Naraaz
Movie: Masoom (1983)
Music: R.D. Burman
Lyrics: Sampooran Singh Gulzar
Singer: Lata Mangeshkar

Tujhse naraaz nahi zindagi
Hairaan hoon main,
O hairaan hoon main.
Tere masoom sawalon se,
Pareshaan hoon main,
O pareshaan hoon main.

Jeene ke liye, socha hi nahi,
Dard sambhalane honge.
Muskuraein toh,
Muskurane ke, karz utaarne honge.
Muskuraoon kabhi, toh lagata hai,
Jaise honton pe karz rakhaa hai.
Tujhse naraaz nahi zindagi...

Aaj agar, bhar ayi hai,
Boondein baras jaayengi.
Kal kya pata, inke liye,
Aakhen taras jayengi.
Jaane kab gum hua, kahan khoya,
Ek aansu chhupake rakha tha
!
Tujhse naraaz nahi zindagi...

The combo of R.D. Burman & Gulzar is literally killing!
They aboslutely rOcK!!!
